LET'S TALK ABOUT ART AT FORUM HOMINI

THE PURPLE HOMINID by Paul du Toitart125.jpg
My inspiration stems from painting with children, even my own.  When they draw and play, the rules always change.  A technique I picked up from interacting with them is to push the drawing hand with the free hand into a direction. I scratch pictures into layers of wet paint and finish with a black line.
For the Forum Homini mural I tried to build a lot into the picture. When trying to name the mural, I remembered the story of the Purple Cow (how to stand out and be extraordinary) and decided to name it the Purple Hominid. I see the mural as a kind of modern cave painting. In short it is the development from hominid to modern human.

The centre tells the story of development of speech and how the older, wiser hominid, (painted in grey and blue symbolizing wisdom of an older person) floating on top, translates stories back to the younger ones.

The Mural first of all I see as some kind of modern cave painting. In short it is the development from hominid to modern human. On the left side it represents fossils and half discovered hominids. The large head is painted in different colours symbolizing different levels on consciousness and the one arm pointing into the future. In the centre it tells the story of development of speech and how the older wiser hominid (painted in grey and blue symbolizing wisdom of an older person) floating on top translates stories back to the younger ones.
The right is split into 2:
·        the superstition of the ancient ancestors all in a row; some upset and angry showing all emotions.
·        And on the right is the modern human in a pin stripe business suit standing on his own shadow of his past.
·        Next to it is the 2 heads in different colours red / yellow – dealing with his and her own past The centre is also the logo of Forum Homini which is ape communicating with man Lastly the paint brush resembles a double meaning one of evolution of art and humanity but also because the owner and chairman of Forum Homini started his own paint company 36 years ago also with a passion for paint and evolution.

AUGUST EVENTS
Post House Estate
"Post House wines are perhaps the darkest and most textured wines to be found anywhere" Winemaker, Nick Gebers
Often, the first observation made about our wines is about the colour. Our reds are perhaps among the darkest, deepest coloured wines to be found. This is a result of a combination of the terroir and the vinification process.
The cellar only produces a small quantity of wine and the winemaker assumes a hands-on and conscientious approach to each step. With creativity, he fine-tunes the whole wine package. The objective is to interfere as little as possible in the creation of the wine making process. The importance of the terroir is fundamental to obtaining a high quality wine. In this context, terroir means to reject the more fertile soils in favour of leaner ground.
